图集描述：Les Fauves (French for The Wild Beasts) were a short-lived and loose grouping of early 20th century Modern artists whose works emphasized painterly qualities and strong colour over the representational or realistic values retained by Impressionism. While Fauvism as a style began around 1900 and continued beyond 1910, the movement as such lasted only three years, 1905–1907, and had three exhibitions. The leaders of the movement were Henri Matisse and André Derain.
Besides Matisse and Derain, other artists included Albert Marquet, Charles Camoin, Louis Valtat, the Belgian painter Henri Evenepoel, Maurice Marinot, Jean Puy, Maurice de Vlaminck, Alfred Maurer, Henri Manguin, Raoul Dufy, Othon Friesz, Georges Rouault, the Dutch painter Kees van Dongen, the Swiss painter Alice Bailly, and Georges Braque (subsequently Picasso's partner in Cubism). 野兽主义(Fauvism)是自1898至1908年在法国盛行一时的一个现代绘画潮流。它虽然没有明确的理论和纲领，但却是一定数量的画家在一段时期里聚合起来积极活动的结果，因而也可以被视为一个画派。野兽派画家热衷于运用鲜艳、浓重的色彩，往往用直接从颜料管中挤出的颜料，以直率、粗放的笔法，创造强烈的画面效果，充分显示出追求情感表达的表现主义倾向。
